Cllr Leah Knott rose to the call of public service, taking on the role of MMC for the Department of Economic Development; within the City of Joburg - appointed by Executive Mayor for the City of Johannesburg, Cllr Herman Mashaba.

Upon her appointment, Cllr Knott was DA Cllr for Ward 97, and currently occupies both roles in the City of Johannesburg. She upholds high levels of diligence in servant leadership.

She carries extensive experience subject to her ward-based community activism, coupled with sound business and industry acumen as a legal professional; with years of in-depth experience in the property development and planning sector. She often gives keynote addresses on various platforms, advocating on numerous socio-economic topics and good governance.

Part of MMC Knott's strategic objectives is to lead in driving a 5% economic growth for the City of Johannesburg by year 2021, enhancing and expanding SMME development and incubation programmes, as well as service delivery - with a key deliverable of creating jobs and attracting investment.

Since her appointment as last August, MMC's office has made inroads into developments working around inner-city rejuvenation projects and empowerment initiatives for young people across all seven (7) regions. She is passionate about leadership and service to the people and positively contributes towards an inclusive socio-economic growth of the people.
